Nasionalberita.com – A number of individuals involved in acts of corruption within the Sukamiskin Correctional Institution (Lapas) in Bandung City have been granted a reduction in their prison sentences in conjunction with the 78th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia’s independence.
Kunrat Kasmiri, serving as the Head of Sukamiskin Correctional Institution, revealed that out of a total of 324 inmates in the institution, 237 of them have received a reduction in their prison sentences as part of the remission process. Among these names are Setya Novanto and Imam Nahrawi.
“In accordance with our proposal, remissions have been granted to 237 individuals, and we are grateful that the related Decree (SK) has been issued. We have communicated this matter to all inmates who fulfill the criteria set by the law,” stated Kunrat on Thursday (8/17/2023).
All inmates who have received this remission, as Kunrat explained, have been granted Type I remission, resulting in a reduction in their prison sentences ranging from one to six months. Not a single inmate has been granted Type II remission, which would lead to immediate release.
“A total of 237 individuals have received remissions with varying durations, ranging from three to six months,” he clarified.
Furthermore, Kunrat elaborated that the majority of the inmates who have received this remission are those involved in cases of corruption.
The breakdown of this sentence reduction is as follows: 17 individuals received a reduction of one month, 38 individuals received a reduction of two months, 152 individuals received a reduction of three months, 18 individuals received a reduction of four months, five individuals received a reduction of five months, and seven inmates received a reduction of six months.
