Nasionalberita.com – The Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil, has spoken out about the ongoing agrarian conflict in the Dago Elos area of Bandung City. This conflict has escalated into clashes between residents and the police.
In this context, Ridwan Kamil revealed that he has communicated with the Chief of the Bandung Metropolitan Police to handle the situation with a humane approach in addressing the issues in Dago Elos.
“In this situation, I have talked to Mr. Kapolres to approach it with a humane attitude, always prioritizing the human aspect,” said Ridwan Kamil on Wednesday (16/8/2023).
Commonly referred to as Kang Emil, he explained that the Bandung Metropolitan Police have not actually rejected the reports submitted by Dago Elos residents regarding this agrarian conflict. According to him, there has been a miscommunication between the residents and the police.
“Mr. Kapolres reported that there was no rejection of the report. However, he requested the report to be refined as reporting has its own procedures to follow. So, there is a slight miscommunication here. The term ‘refined’ seems to be interpreted as rejection,” he explained.
Regarding the root of the problem in Dago Elos, Kang Emil hopes that all parties involved can come together and find a good solution to address this issue.
“But whatever happens, I hope that this dynamic can be resolved through communication between the parties involved and the affected community. Everyone is urged to remain calm,” Kang Emil stated.
“In terms of the law, I strongly hope that fair right to life is granted to the residents,” he added.
Kang Emil also mentioned that the Dago Elos conflict involves two groups, namely those who claim to be heirs and the residents who have been living in the area for generations.
“It should be noted that this is a dispute between two groups of residents, the group that claims to be heirs and the group of residents who have long lived in that area. This shouldn’t be equated with situations where residents react to government policies. This is more of an inter-resident conflict,” he clarified.
Kang Emil also emphasized that he has provided input to the police to handle this conflict in accordance with the applicable procedures and in a humane approach.
“Therefore, it’s very important to respect the law and follow the legal procedures in place. If there are dynamics related to handling the situation, I have given input to the Kapolres of Bandung City,” Kang Emil concluded.
