Nasionalberita.com – On August 2nd, Russian forces deployed an Iran-made Shahed drone in Kyiv, Ukraine, as reported by the Kyiv City Military Administration through the Telegram channel.
The Ukrainian air defense successfully detected and destroyed nearly a dozen aerial targets approaching the city.
“This attack was as significant as the one yesterday,” said Serhiy Popko, the head of the administration.
As of now, there have been no reports of casualties or damages, although the impact of the attack is still being evaluated.
That night, the air alert lasted for three hours in the capital. Popko noted that this was the 820th warning for Kyiv since the large-scale invasion began in February 2022.
A day earlier, Russian forces also launched a drone attack on Kyiv. The Kyiv City Military Administration reported successfully shooting down more than 10 drones in that attack.
Not long before that, alleged Ukrainian drones had targeted several areas in Moscow, Russia. The Mayor of Moscow stated that the office building hit by the drones was the same one targeted in the previous Sunday’s attack.
According to him, Russian forces again managed to shoot down several drones over Moscow, with one of the intercepted aircraft causing damage to the same office tower that was targeted during the weekend.
On Tuesday, the Russian Ministry of Defense, in a Telegram message, stated that their anti-aircraft unit had thwarted a terrorist attack originating from Kyiv and managed to shoot down two drones on the western outskirts of the city center.
However, another unmanned aircraft “was affected by radio-electronic equipment and lost control, crashing into a non-residential complex of buildings” in Moscow, the business district of the capital. The ministry referred to the same location that had been targeted by unmanned aircraft in the previous Sunday’s attack.
The Mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, confirmed that the building affected on Tuesday was the same one previously hit by unmanned aircraft.
“One aircraft reached the same tower in the Moscow City complex that was targeted before. The facade was damaged on the 21st floor, with over 150 square meters of glass shattered,” he said.
